Township Planner, Township of Pine                                               

The Township Planner is responsible to plan, organize, direct, and oversee the Planning & Land Development function for the Township of Pine. Uphold and comply with adopted municipal codes, ordinances, approvals, and State and local regulations of a Home Rule Charter community operating under Pennsylvania Second Class Township Code.

  • Prioritize and emphasize work related to planning, organizing, and directing current and long-range planning activities.
  • Oversee Zoning and Land Development permitting, to ensure submissions are reviewed and managed per Township regulations, Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Code, Second Class Township Code, and any other applicable standards.
  • Lead, manage, and guide applicants through the Planning and Land Development process through solid expertise in executing the requirements of the Municipal Planning Code, land development ordinances, and permitting process.
  • Executes and communicates all Department work assignments under the supervision of the Director of Code Administration
  • Serves as the staff representative to various boards, commissions, and committees.
  • Responsible for preparing meeting agenda items, reports, data analysis, reviews, supporting departmental correspondence, and providing all supporting documentation necessary for pending board, commission, and committee action, review, or discussion of agenda items.
  • Responsible for drafting ordinances, resolutions, or amendments for the Township’s zoning, subdivision, and land development ordinances.
  • Leads Township’s grant writing and tracking process.
  • Provides project management on various including planning, design management, and construction management.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in planning, engineering, public administration, or related field of study relative to the essential functions and requirements of the position.
  • Minimum of four years of planning and land development experience, preferably in local government.
  • Working experience with the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Code
  • AICP certification and professional planning work with municipal or county government preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to land use, planning, zoning, subdivision ordinances, and community development for local government.
